Isle of Wight Beaches

There are 14 award winning beaches on the Isle of Wight, some with a Blue Flag award. Daily inspections of the beaches and esplanades by the Isle of Wight council help to maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.

Isle of Wight Blue Flag beaches

Along the east coast, a golden arc of sand runs from the Blue Flag beach at Shanklin, complete with its picturesque old village, through to the Blue Flag beach at Sandown, a popular spot for families and water sports. Slightly further along the East coast is the unspoilt Bembridge beach which has sand and rock pools for the kids to splash around in.

Take the steps down to the blue flag beach at Ventnor, along the south coast. Here you can find a pretty beach and a selection of pubs, cafes and restaurants, all sheltered from the elements by high cliffs.

On the west coast, you can find winners of the Quality Coast Award at Totland Bay and Colwell bay where you can also enjoy stunning views over the western Solent.

More winners of the Quality Coast Award can be found on the beaches of Gurnard and East Cowes, along the north coast of the island. Gurnard is a popular spot for anyone wanting to try their hand at windsurfing on an Isle of Wight holiday.
