Cycling in The Isle of Wight

Cycling is a popular activity on the Isle of Wight. The island is a leading destination for cycling activities, hosting an annual cycling festival every September and October.

Although the island is just over 147 square miles in size, you can find over 200 miles of cycling routes to enjoy during your Isle of Wight holiday.

Lovers of speed-racing or simple road biking will take pleasure cycling along the scenic country lanes, whilst off-road and downhill cyclists will find something for them amongst the variety of challenging bridleways.

There are plenty of well signposted and well maintained routes to draw you into the beautiful countryside. Over half of the island is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and with 30 miles of Heritage Coast, the island provides the perfect environment for keen cyclists.

There are plenty of companies across the island that offer cycle hire so you don’t have to bring your own bike. Many can deliver the bike to you, and some also offer guided off-road rides.
