Lovers of sporting activities will find plenty on offer around the Isle of Wight. You’d be forgiven for thinking that the sporting activities would be limited to the sea, but this is not the case.
Golf courses can be found at Vantnor, Westridge and Newport, and the Shanklin & Sandown course gives county championship level challenges to face. The Isle of Wight is also a leading cycling location for enthusiasts around the country. With over 200 miles of cycling routes and an annual Cycling Festival, the island is the perfect choice for a cycling holiday.
For something a bit different, the Allendale Equestrian Centre can provide sporting activities for lovers of horses, whilst paragliding at the High Adventure Paragliding school in Yarmouth, is not for the faint hearted.
Watersports
The Sea View Yacht club in Seaview, Pelican Racing and the Island Sailing Club in Cowes offer people of all age and abilities the chance to take part in sailing activities. It’s an ideal way to experience the island’s spectacular coastline on your Isle of Wight holiday. Island Divers at Cowes and the Aqua Diving School near Sandown can give you the chance to try scuba diving and explore hundreds of shipwrecks around the island.
Canoeing, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding, kitesurfing – the list is endless. All are available at the sports clubs on the Isle of Wight.
